Let’s face it – we all know how awful it can feel when things don’t go to plan. For a good few weeks, I’ve been preparing to head off to the States on my first ever press trip with BrewDog Airlines. Flights, amazing accommodation, tours around Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Spending money. All paid for. You know, the whole shabang. I’d spent hours emailing travel magazines and websites to set up blog posts and articles, walked many miles up and down the shopping centres in Budapest trying to find the perfect outfits for when I’m there, and basically just spending every minute being equally excited and nervous (in a good way). I was so buzzed to go to the US and meet other bloggers and journalists, and of course, sample the best beer and cider that BrewDog has to offer.
And then, my health had to go and fuck it all up.
For the majority of single folk, any mention of the words ‘Valentine’s’ and ‘Day’ in the same sentence can bring about an eye-rolling sense of dread. I’ve certainly been guilty of this in the past, but my mindset seems to have changed somewhat in 2019. Being a massive lover of self-care (I mean, who isn’t?) I think there’s no better time than V Day to show yourself some serious love and appreciation.
Whether you have a bit of cash to splash, or if you’d rather stick within a budget, there are loads of bits and bobs on the market that are just perfect for little self care pick-me-ups. Here are my personal faves.
Having travelled to a fair few places by myself, I know just how important it is to ensure safety is a top priority. Unfortunately, not everywhere is as safe for solo female travellers as others – which is why it’s crucial to plan ahead, and be aware of any potential dangers wherever it is you’re staying.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s awful that when you decide to visit certain places as a solo female traveller, you’re going to be put in some potentially dangerous situations, and you have to take extra care to make sure you keep safe. Unfortunately, we live in a shitty world.
I’ve always been a massive lover of skincare and beauty products, and spend way more of my income on it than I do on clothes and shoes. I’ll quite happily spend a hefty amount on some good makeup and cosmetic products, but would say no to spending the same amount on a new dress. Having always been this way, it seems a bit odd that I’ve never actually written a beauty-related blog post before.
Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet, lads. My mindless nattering on this blog has been replaced by repetitive product descriptions for a fashion website called Farfetch. Yep, I’ve only gone and got myself an actual, proper, real, legit, full-time writing job.
